Enter, Neo 2
DJI, a global name in consumer drone and creative camera technology, has officially launched its latest compact drone, the Neo 2, with orders opening in the Philippines and select global markets today. This release serves as the direct successor to last year’s DJI Neo, which made notable strides as one of the more approachable “follow-me” camera drones designed for beginners. Neo 2 arrives with further refinements in both safety and smart shooting, aimed squarely at a growing market of Filipino outdoor enthusiasts, families, and content creators wary of traditional drone complexity.

Weighing just 151 grams without its transmission module, the Neo 2 retains the original’s palm-sized, travel-friendly form factor but sets itself apart with significant upgrades in obstacle sensing technology. This time, DJI has equipped the Neo 2 with full omnidirectional obstacle sensing, making flights safer for new users. This is a positive departure from last year’s lack of sensors. There’s also a complete propeller guard design and enhanced wind resistance, reducing worries when flying in unpredictable environments like city parks, beaches, or the provincial countryside.

Follow-Me and Gesture Controls
Filipino beginners will appreciate the intuitive gesture controls and palm takeoff/landing mechanism, both refined for this iteration. Instead of relying on a remote for basic operation, the Neo 2 now supports more precise commands via hand gestures, including directional movement and auto-return-to-palm landing. Those looking for convenience during cycling, running, or family outings can utilize the improved ActiveTrack system, which reliably locks onto subjects for stable, responsive follow shots, even at tracking speeds up to 12 meters per second. This expanded capability makes documenting local sports or travel vlogs simpler than ever.

DJI Neo 2 Specs
DJI focused this launch on making aerial content production accessible yet dynamic, highlighting the Neo 2’s 12 MP camera with an upgraded 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and f/2.2 lens. The drone features a re-engineered 2-axis mechanical gimbal, paired with electronic image stabilization for sharp, cinematic footage. Furthermore, content can be recorded in 4K at up to 100fps for slow motion, or in vertical 2.7K format, ready for social platforms. Intelligent shooting modes such as Dolly Zoom, QuickShots, and MasterShots further distinguish the model, enabling Filipino creators to shoot highlight reels without manual editing.

Internally, the Neo 2 provides 49GB of integrated storage, allowing users to capture and transfer as much as 105 minutes of 4K 60fps footage, or longer at lower resolutions. Footage can be quickly sent to the DJI Fly app over Wi-Fi for streamlined post-production, which is ideal for content creators who prioritize speed in publishing.
The Neo 2’s batteries promise an approximate 19-minute flight time ideal for shoot-and-go vlogs and day trips. DJI says each battery can support around 20 palm takeoffs per session, so it’s suited for continuous shooting through family gatherings or trip itineraries. The drone supports global navigation via GPS, Galileo, and BeiDou, with enhanced hovering accuracy benefiting content creation in crowded spaces or difficult terrain.

For extended range, the Neo 2 pairs with DJI’s RC-N3 remote controller, achieving transmission distances of up to 10 kilometers. Alternatively, users may choose to pilot via smartphone, motion controller, or even voice-command with compatible headphones.
