Rumors suggest that Samsung Foundry is poised to manufacture the specialized Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for the Galaxy chipset.

Samsung – Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 on 2nm Node

Qualcomm previously shifted its flagship chip production to TSMC after reporting yield challenges with the company’s fabrication of the initial Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which was announced in late September, is confirmed to be built on TSMC’s 3nm node. However, the “for Galaxy” iteration, a chipset featured in Samsung’s flagship phones for the past two generations, is reportedly more than just an overclocked version of the standard silicon. According to reports from a Korean news outlet, this custom chip will leverage Samsung’s cutting-edge 2nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) process.

Moreover, this advanced manufacturing is expected to deliver a substantial performance leap for the company’s future devices. Interestingly, the report indicates that the 8 Gen 5 for Galaxy may first debut in the company’s 2026 foldable phones next summer, rather than the Galaxy S series, which could still utilize the Exynos 2600 platform.
