Facebook may still be testing its downvote option for content shared on its platform, as some Facebook pages and users have reported seeing the thumbs-down mark on some posts.

The platform has been exploring this feature for several months now. This feature, if implemented, could subtly but fundamentally change how users interact with comment threads. The feature is said to function as a moderation aid to improve the quality of public discussion, rather than a tool for widespread public condemnation of content.
According to some user reports, not everyone has access to this function. It may currently be in the testing stage and has not yet been made available to all users. The thumbs-down icon is a downvote system rather than a conventional “dislike” button.
Facebook’s algorithm marks a comment as possibly dangerous or negative when it receives several thumbs down. It may also examine the commenter’s account to see whether they engage in abusive or troll-like behavior.
