AMD and OpenAI recently announced a 6-gigawatt agreement to power OpenAI’s next-generation AI infrastructure across multiple generations of AMD Instinct GPUs. 

The deployment of AMD Instinct MI450 GPUs, totaling 1 gigawatt, is scheduled to start in the second half of 2026, showcasing AMD’s leadership in high-performance computing and its collaboration with OpenAI during a crucial period for AI advancements.

AMD and OpenAI Partnership

OpenAI has entered into a definitive agreement with AMD to collaborate on large-scale deployments of AMD technology, with a focus on the AMD Instinct MI450 series and AI solutions. This partnership builds on an ongoing collaboration that began with the MI300X series, aiming to optimize both hardware and software. AMD issued OpenAI a warrant for up to 160 million shares, which will vest upon achieving specific milestones related to power deployment and share-price targets.
