Apple has announced another extension of the free trial for its satellite communication feature, a move that will benefit owners of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series. The company has also just revealed the iPhone 17 lineup alongside other products during the recently concluded Apple event.
iPhone 14 and 15 Series Users Free Satellite Communication
The service enables users to contact emergency services and share their location in areas with limited or no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. It was originally free for two years.

Following an initial extension in November 2023, Apple has now further extended the free period, allowing eligible users to continue using the feature at no cost until mid-September 2026. This applies to those who activated their devices in a supported country before September 9, 2025. The feature, which debuted with the 14 series, is powered by the Globalstar satellite network.

The satellite service is designed for critical situations, providing a lifeline for emergency SOS calls and roadside assistance. While a valuable safety tool, it is not universally available, with certain countries like mainland China, Hong Kong, and Russia excluded from the service.
