OPPO has officially mentioned that the OPPO Reno14 Series 5G will be arriving in the Philippines on August 8. It is comprised of the OPPO Reno14 5G, Reno14 5G, and Reno14 F 5G.

This comes as the second Reno series in the year and brings with it major as well as minor upgrades from the Reno series introduced earlier this year.

Ahead of the launch, we were given the chance to experience the Reno14 5G for ourselves. Here are our early impressions of the upcoming device.

Unboxing Experience

We unboxed the OPPO Reno14 5G recently, and you can watch the video below:

Generally, it’s a pretty run-of-the-mill unboxing for an OPPO device, but I’m a fan of the design on the box, it just helps give it a bit more aesthetic. It’s always a good time as well to see a silicone case and a charger. The latter makes it easier to maximize the charging speed of the device fresh from the box.

Hands-on Experience

The OPPO Reno14 5G is built around a 6.59-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED panel. This is as average-sized as it gets, as far as size goes in 2025. The device comes in two colors – a stunning Opal White and an elegant Luminous Green.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get the Opal White color option, which is the more eye-catching of the two. That’s no knock to the Luminous Green colorway, though, as it has a classic and elegant sheen to it.

OPPO Reno14 5G First Impressions camera module
That camera module looks so nicee!

The Reno14 5G has a square camera module with rounded edges that houses the triple rear camera and the LED flash. There’s nothing too game-changing, especially coming from the Reno13 5G. However, that really isn’t a bad thing because it still looks very familiar and it still looks gorgeous, especially with the gradient aura design in the camera module.

OPPO Reno14 5G First Impressions buttons

The OPPO Reno14 5G has a pretty straightforward port and button layout. On the right of the display are the power button and volume rockers. Meanwhile, on the bottom are the USB-C port, SIM tray, microphone, and speaker grille.

The device is powered by the same MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset as its predecessor. I would’ve preferred an upgrade, but given the timeline of its release, there aren’t many upgrades to choose from. We received the variant with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The combination of these seems to offer a smooth experience based on my initial use of the device. I’ve also been able to play games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Honor of Kings with ease. I’ll definitely get to more gaming in my full review.

Camera

The OPPO Reno14 5G is equipped with a 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and it also has a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto lens. The last is a very welcome addition, especially coming from the 2MP macro third lens in the Reno13 5G. Rounding out the cameras is another 50MP camera for selfies.

Here are some initial camera samples that we took in our recent trip to Bohol:

OPPO has equipped the OPPO Reno14 Series 5G with AI features for its camera, like AI Flash Photography and AI-Enhanced 4K HDR Video. Moreover, it has AI Editor 2.0, where you can fix and edit your photos to your liking.

The device is also IP69 rated, allowing you to capture photos and up to 4K videos in fresh water.

We’ll definitely try out these features for our full review.

Battery and Charging

The Reno14 5G gets its juice from a massive 6000mAh battery, which is said to offer up to 10 hours of MOBA gameplay or up to 2.25 days of standby time.

If the massive battery cell isn’t enough, you can top it up with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging. And yes, if you watched our unboxing, the device comes with an 80W SUPERVOOC charger out of the box. OPPO claims that you only need 48 minutes to fully charge the device from 0%.

These, of course, are things that we’ll truly check out for our full review. But initial testing holds is already impressive, with it lasting a bit more than a day of average use.

Software Experience

The OPPO Reno14 5G runs on ColorOS 15 on top of Android 15. ColorOS, in general, has tons of bloatware out of the box, but is by far my favorite when it comes to customization options. Additionally, the latest version of OPPO’s UI comes with AI features like AI Call Summary, AI Mind Space, and the AI Translate app, to name a few.

Initial Verdict

The OPPO Reno14 5G is a good upgrade from its predecessor, based on my initial experience and on paper alone. Sure, you don’t get a massive upgrade in pure power, but you do get a drastically better camera system, which the Reno series has also prided itself in.

There’s so much to test with the Reno14 5G, like its AI-powered features, and yes, this includes the camera features.

As of writing this, OPPO has yet to reveal its price, but it is confirmed to arrive in the Philippines August 8. Will it stay roughly the same as its predecessor, or will it get a price bump? We won’t know until its official launch. This, of course, will be among the factors we’ll check in our full review.

Let us know if there are specific features you’d want us to test.
