Nothing recently announced that the Nothing Phone (3) will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Now, its co-founder Akis Evangelidis confirmed its software and security support.
Nothing Phone (3) Software and Security Support
According to Nothing Co-founder Akis Evangelidis, the Nothing Phone (3) will come with 5 and 7 years of software support. This could be read as 5 years of major Android updates and 7 years of security upgrades.
8 Gen 3 has a weaker GPU, NPU, connectivity and ISP – and default software support is 4 & 4. Phone (3) will have 5 & 7.

When compared to the 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches that were committed to the Nothing Phone (2), the Phone (3) really is getting the flagship treatment.

Moreover, Akis mentioned in his first tweet that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 offers massive upgrades over the Phone (2) including:
- +33% CPU performance
- +88% GPU performance
- +125% on-device AI processing and AI image recognition
- +60% overall NPU performance
He adds that the newer chipset delivers a big upgrade in image quality thanks to the new Spectra 18-bit Triple ISP.
His original tweet still dubs the Nothing Phone (3) as the company’s first true flagship device, despite a flagship killer chipset but what do you guys think?
Ram found his love and appreciation for writing in 2015 having started in the gaming and esports sphere for GG Network. He would then transition to focus more on the world of tech which has also began his journey into learning more about this world. That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
