Cignal has launched Cignal Play Microdrama, a vertical content platform available on its streaming service since June 28, 2025. It joins the growing microdrama market covering both locally produced originals and international titles.
Microdrama Format
Microdramas are short-form series with episodes under five minutes, designed for quick mobile viewing in vertical format. The format has gained global popularity for having emotionally engaging storytelling and binge-friendly structure. These “verticals” are optimized for smartphone consumption and cater to modern viewing habits where audiences prefer quick, easily digestible content.
Content

The platform features Cignal Originals including “I See You” starring Dimples Romana, “My Father’s Last Wish” featuring Dylan Menor, and “3 Queens and a Baby” headlined by Christian Bables. These locally-produced microdramas showcase Filipino artistry and storytelling through the new format.
International titles from Dashflix complement the local productions, offering viewers a diverse catalog of stories and genres. The mix of Filipino and international content aims to cater to varied audience preferences while maintaining cultural relevance.
Platform Integration
The microdrama platform adds to Cignal’s existing services, which include direct-to-home satellite TV, fiber-powered IPTV, Cignal Play, Pilipinas Live, and Cignal Super. This expansion demonstrates the company’s multi-platform content strategy across traditional and digital channels.
“We are excited to introduce Cignal Play Microdrama,” said Jane Jimenez-Basas, Cignal President and CEO. “This is a significant step for Cignal as we continue to embrace changes in the media landscape. Microdramas offer a new, creative way to tell Filipino stories that resonate with audiences across our content platforms.”
Pricing and Access
The first five episodes of each microdrama title are free. Full access requires a PHP 20 per day subscription. Content is available exclusively on mobile devices through the Cignal Play app on Android and iOS.
