The rehabilitation, spearheaded by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), is a crucial undertaking in preparation for the Philippines’ hosting of the ASEAN Summit in 2026.

To mitigate anticipated traffic, an odd-even coding scheme on EDSA will undergo a month-long dry run starting June 16, with potential for extension.
Despite the extensive roadwork, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon assured the public that the EDSA Busway will remain operational. “The EDSA Busway will not be closed even during the rehabilitation of EDSA,” Dizon stated, clarifying that any deviations would be temporary. Discussions are ongoing regarding the potential emergency use of the busway.
