In an effort to rekindle the Philippines’ rich cycling heritage, Huawei has partnered with Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) to bring back the historic Tour of Luzon cycling race. The 2025 edition, officially called “Tour of Luzon: The Great Revival,” marks the return of this prestigious event that first began in 1955 and has long been considered a cornerstone of Asian cycling history.

A Strategic Partnership for Community Impact

The partnership represents a strategic alignment between Huawei’s technological innovation and MPTC’s commitment to community development. This collaboration seeks to foster national pride, regional unity, and promote wellness through sports. By combining resources and expertise, both organizations aim to create a meaningful impact that extends beyond the cycling event itself.

Huawei, recognized globally for its advancements in technology, brings to the partnership its extensive experience in developing smart devices that enhance physical wellness. Since 2015, the company has established itself as a leader in wearable technology, creating fitness bands and smartwatches that serve both as fashionable accessories and reliable fitness companions.

The revival of the Tour of Luzon demonstrates how modern technology can help preserve and celebrate cultural heritage. Huawei’s involvement includes providing the MPT DriveHub Cycling Team with smart technology to enhance their race experience. This integration of cutting-edge technology with traditional sporting events exemplifies how innovation can support and elevate cultural traditions.

In 2024, Huawei introduced the TruSense System with its GT 5 Series, featuring support for over 100 sport modes, including cycling. The elegant design combined with powerful performance capabilities makes these devices particularly suitable for competitive cycling events such as the Tour of Luzon.
