Maya x Julia Barretto

Digital bank Maya is partnering with actress Julia Barretto to launch a new campaign that redefines the classic “calendar girl,” naming her the world’s first-ever “Savings Calendar Girl.”

The collaboration aims to make financial wellness appealing and demonstrates how saving money can be a stylish and empowering choice for Filipinos. Instead of just marking dates, the campaign’s “Savings Calendar” features bold visuals of Barretto and illustrates how users’ money can grow daily through the bank’s high-interest savings account.

“This is a proud moment for me, as it’s a celebration of where I am now in life,” Barretto said in a statement. “I’m in my savings era, and being the world’s first-ever Savings Calendar Girl is an experience I’ll never forget.”

The campaign’s core message, “‘Wag na sunog-pera, baby,” directly challenges the common habit of impulsive spending, encouraging a shift towards building wealth.

A Calendar That Tracks Your Earnings

Unlike traditional calendars, the Maya Savings Calendar is an interactive tool designed to visualize the power of consistent saving and compounding interest. It shows a projection of how an initial deposit grows throughout the year, especially when supplemented with regular additions, such as ₱10,000 monthly.

The calendar highlights how Maya’s feature of crediting interest daily can significantly boost savings over time. The bank currently offers an interest rate of up to 15% per annum.

Barretto was reportedly involved in the creative process, co-creating the calendar. One of the monthly layouts features her wearing sunglasses from her own brand, Juju Club.

“In this economy, if your money ain’t earning, it’s burning,” the company stated in its announcement, emphasizing the importance of making money work for its owner.

The full Maya Savings Calendar is accessible to the public through the company’s official website.
