Apple solidified its dominance in the smartphone market in 2024, capturing a significant portion of global sales. A recent report by Canalys revealed that seven out of the top ten best-selling smartphones of the year were iPhones.
Apple Domination
The iPhone 15 reigned supreme, leading the pack in terms of shipments. Following closely were the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max, further solidifying the company’s position in the premium smartphone segment. Notably, the iPhone 13, a three-year-old model, still managed to secure a spot in the top ten, demonstrating the enduring appeal of the company’s devices.

Samsung, Apple’s closest competitor, managed to secure only one spot in the top ten with its Galaxy A15 model. This highlights the Cupertino-based company’s stronghold on the market and the continued success of its premium iPhone lineup.
Apple’s dominance can be attributed to several factors, including strong brand loyalty, innovative features, and a robust ecosystem. The company’s consistent software updates, coupled with a vast app store and a thriving services ecosystem, have further strengthened its position in the market.

While Apple continues to lead the way, the smartphone market remains dynamic and competitive. Other players, including Samsung and emerging Chinese brands, are constantly striving to innovate and capture market share.
