Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) has reported a potential data breach that may have compromised Easytrip user accounts on its North Luzon Expressway, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, Manila-Cavite Expressway, and Cavite-Laguna Expressway.
MPTC Reports a Data Breach
MPTC has reported a data breach affecting some user accounts, potentially compromising their toll wallet balances. The affected system has been contained by its information security team, and Easytrip account holders are assured their balances are secure.
A hacker group has compromised almost one million Easytrip records, according to cybersecurity group Deep Web Konek. The breach affected 247,324 cards and the company’s internal telephone directory, with 3,000 entries. The group plans to contact affected account holders.
