Apple has just announced the latest models of the iPad family namely the refreshed iPad Pro and iPad Air at its Let Loose 2024. This comes about a month ahead of the Worldwide Web Developer Conference (WWDC 2024).

The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes – an 11-inch and 13-inch variant with a new Ultra Retina XFR display with tandem OLED technology. The company also offers Nano-texture glass for both sizes that is said to maintain image quality and contrast while scattering ambient light for less glare.

The 11-inch model is just 5.3mm thin and weighs less than a pound, while its larger 13-inch sibling is thinner at 5.1mm and is nearly a quarter pound lighter than its predecessor.

Under the hood, the latest Pro tablet from Apple is powered by the new M4 chip built on a second-generation 3nm process. It features up to four performance cores and six efficiency cores with next-generation machine-learning accelerators. The Apple Pencil Pro also made its debut with a new sensor in its barrel. This is used to sense when you squeeze the pencil to bring up a tool palette to quickly switch tools, line weights, and colors. It also has a gyroscope that allows you to roll the Pencil Pro to precisely control the tool you’re using.

The combination of these lets you to rotate the barrel to change the orientation of the shaped pen and brush tools.

Logic Pro for iPad 2 and Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 were also unveiled at the launch event.

Stem Splitter

The former expands on its Session Players feature to include a new Bass Player and Keyboard Player, in addition to the Drummer capabilities. The new version will also have ChromaGlow to add warmth to tracks and Stem Splitter to extract and separate a single track into voice, bass, drums, and other tracks.

Meanwhile, Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 introduces Live Multicam, which allows you to view and control up to four connected iPhone and iPad devices wirelessly. You can use this via the a new Final Cut Camera app where you can adjust white balance, ISO, and shutter speed.
