Right on schedule, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi A3 in India. The latest affordable Redmi device is powered by last year’s budget gaming chipset – MediaTek Helio G36 and packs a 5000mAh.
Redmi A3
The A3 is built around a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. The teardrop notch on the top center of the panel houses a 5MP front camera. Meanwhile, around the back is an 8MP main sensor at the center of what the company dubs the Halo Design camera module.
The Helio G36 is accompanied by up to 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage. The latter can be expanded to up to 1TB via a microSD card slot.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual SIM, 4G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, and GNSS.

How much is the Redmi A3?
In India, the Redmi A3 comes in three memory configurations:
- 3GB+64GB – INR 9,999 (around PHP 6,800)
- 4GB+128GB – INR 10,999 (around PHP 7,400)
- 6GB+128GB – INR 11,999 (around PHP 8,100)
It will be available in India starting February 23. While we didn’t see the Redmi A2 arrive in the Philippines, the Redmi A2+ was made available. Before this, we saw the Redmi A1 introduced here.
We’ll just have to wait if Xiaomi Philippines will make the Redmi A3 available in the country.
