ASUS is making a strong commitment to a better and more sustainable future through a series of activities in partnership with the nonprofit organization Communities Organized for Resource Allocation (CORA). This collaboration had three main phases, all aimed at promoting eco-friendly products, reducing waste, raising awareness about the circular economy and climate action, and educating people about living a more eco-friendly life. They’ve collected a significant amount of plastic and other recyclable materials weighing about 1.67 tons.

George Su, ASUS Philippines Country Manager, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved, including CORA, ASUS Philippines employees, partners, dealers, and the Filipino community, for their support in this meaningful mission to recycle plastic and other waste materials, giving them a second life and working towards a sustainable future for all.

Circular Economy Starts with Us

In 2007, ASUS introduced its first eco-friendly notebook, the ASUS Bamboo Series. It received recognition for its environmental features. Recently, ASUS launched the Zenbook S 13 OLED (UX5304), which is a sustainable product that aligns with the company’s 2025 Sustainability Goals and commitment to environmental responsibility. This laptop has a positive impact on the environment throughout its life cycle, from production to use and disposal.

ASUS also organized an event called “ASUStainable Solution: Circular Economy Starts with Us,” where they educated their employees about recycling and how they can contribute to a circular economy by recycling common household items, like plastic bottles. Employees were also encouraged to share what they learned with their friends and family. After the workshop, there was a two-month recycling activity among ASUS employees, collecting various types of waste. They managed to collect 840.6 kilograms of waste materials, which were then turned into useful products.

ASUS donated two laptops to CORA to assist with their administrative work, such as data management. The CORA Eco-Ikot Center is a recycling system that allows communities to exchange recyclables for rewards, offering a sustainable solution to plastic pollution.

In the second phase of their efforts, ASUS set up recycling kiosks in three ASUS Exclusive Stores, making it easy for people to recycle plastic bottles in exchange for ASUS and CORA merchandise. They also educated the public about the circular economy and the benefits of recycling common plastic waste. Mallgoers had the opportunity to experience the Zenbook S 13 OLED and learn about the importance of eco-friendly products.

Celebrating International Coastal Cleanup Day

For the final phase, ASUS celebrated International Coastal Cleanup Day by cleaning up the shore of Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) with the help of volunteers, including ASUS employees, media, influencers, partners, and dealers. They collected 646.2 kilograms of plastic waste, Styrofoam, rubber materials, and stuffed toys, which were properly disposed of by the Parañaque City Local Government Unit. The data collected during this event will be used to address the waste problem in Manila Bay, which is reported to have a massive amount of plastic waste.

The data collected during the event should help CORA and government agencies in taking the next steps to address the dire waste problem in Manila Bay. The LPPWP is part of the Manila Bay coast and was reported to carry an estimated 9.46 billion pieces of plastic waste.

United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and CORA Founder Antoinette Taus also shared, “We need to reduce our waste overall and make sure that the waste we do produce ends up in the right places, to the circular economy.”

In their recent ASUS 2022 Sustainability Report, the company exceeded ENERGY STAR standards by 34% and generated 87% of total product revenue from eco-friendly products. ASUS received multiple awards for its sustainability efforts and aims to become a net-zero enterprise by 2050.
