Sony released the Sony Xperia 5 V, its latest compact flagship smartphone late last week. Despite a more portable size, it comes with a larger main sensor but drops the telephoto lens that the Xperia 5 IV rocked.

The Sony Xperia 5 V has the same 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED panel as its predecessor complete with the 120Hz refresh rate.

However, the upgrade lies in the camera department with a larger 1/1.35-inch 52MP main lens, the same used in the Xperia 1 V. It shoots 24mm 12MP photos by default but because of the larger sensor, it can take in more light compared to the predecessor. The Xperia 5 V’s main lens is said to effectively shoot like a 48MP lens.

The main sensor is joined by a 12MP ultrawide snapper with a 1/2.5-inch lens and a 16mm focal length. Based on the specs, it seems to be the same lens used in the Xperia 1 V and the Xperia 5 IV.

The device is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a 5000mAh battery. It also supports 30W fast charging and 18W wireless charging but it doesn’t come with a 30W charger out of the box. Sony has also included a 3.5mm headphone jack in its flagship device, which is pretty unique in the flagship market in 2023.
