After the company teased the arrival of a handheld streaming device and its first audio offerings in May, Sony Interactive Entertainment has just revealed more details including the names and prices of these devices. These are the PlayStation Portal remote player, the Pulse Explore TWS earbuds, and the Pulse Elite headset.
It was also revealed that these devices will be coming later this year.
The PlayStation Portal is what the company calls a remote player that “brings the PS5 experience to the palm of your hand.” It has an 8-inch FHD+ LCD panel with a 60Hz refresh rate.
The Portal allows PS5 users to play their PS5 games in another room in the house via remote play over Wi-Fi. It can play supported games that are installed on your PS5 and use the Dualsense controller.
It also includes a 3.5mm audio jack for wired audio. It was clarified though that PS VR2 games are not supported by the handheld device.
The PlayStation Portal remote player will launch later this year for USD 199.99 (around PHP 11,400)/EUR 219.99 (around PHP 12,500)/GBP 199.99 (around PHP 14,400)/JPY 29,980 (around PHP 11,700).
Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite
The Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite, on the other hand, are the latest PlayStation wireless earbuds and headset, respectively. These are the first PlayStation audio devices to use custom-designed planar magnetic drivers.
The Pulse Explore is equipped with dual microphones and AI-enhanced noise cancellation that filters background sounds. Additionally, it offers lossless audio and comes with a charging case.
Meanwhile, the Pulse Elite offers lossless audio and comes with a retractable boom mic and AI noise cancellation. It also comes with a charging hanger for convenient charging and storage.
These are priced at:
- Pulse Elite – USD 149.99 (around PHP 8,500)/EUR 149.99 (around PHP 9,200)/GBP 129.99 (around PHP 9,300)/JPY 18,980 (around PHP 7,400)
- Pulse Explore – USD 199.99 (around PHP 11,400)/EUR 219.99 (around PHP 12,500)/GBP 199.99 (around PHP 14,400)/JPY 29,980 (around PHP 11,700)
Both the Pulse Elite and Explore connect directly with the PlayStation Portal by using PlayStation Link. It delivers low latency, lossless audio, and easy switching between multiple hosts like the PS5 with the USB adapter and PlayStation Portal.
A PlayStation Link USB adapter will also be sold separately and can be used on PC and Mac, so you can connect both audio devices.
