Netflix has been planning on stopping password-sharing for a long time now. It looks like it’s ready to introduce its solution by introducing an Extra Member Tier and it’s rolling out in the US first.

The additional member slot will cost the original account holder an extra USD 7.99/month and will come with its own profile and password. However, it will need to be registered in the same country as the original account holder.

Moreover, if you are wondering if you could just transfer your extra slot to a new or personal account, you may do so as the streaming platform allows for profile transfer.

Netflix has been looking for ways to combat password sharing and by doing this first step, the company seems to encourage customers to get their own account instead to avoid any confusion.

We’re uncertain, as of writing this, if and when the new tier will be introduced in other markets including the Philippines though.
