Before the pandemic started the US government put Huawei on the trade blacklist. This means that you must acquire a certain license before you can continue trading. However, reports are now saying that the US government is planning on expanding the list of banned products from the company.

These new banned techs include 4G tech, Wi-Fi 6 and 7, and tech used for artificial intelligence as well as high-performance and cloud computing. It has also been reported that new licenses for 4G items are also being denied. According to one expert even old licenses may be revoked.

Biden approved new export controls on equipment used to manufacture semiconductors in October last year. These were restrictions put on nodes more advanced than 14nm and in some cases 16nm chips.

An earlier Bloomberg report said that Japan and Netherlands are partnering up to ban their local companies from exporting to China.

Meanwhile, the US Commerce Department gave no comments about the details of the trade export bans that were made.
