HONOR Introduces First Silicon-Carbon Battery at MWC 2023

HONOR has just unveiled the first silicon-carbon battery that is said to promise 12.8% better energy density compared to current lithium batteries. The company revealed this alongside the Magic5 series and Magic Vs at MWC 2023.

Company CEO, George Zhao made the announcement and despite it being pretty brief, he revealed graphs that show how much better the battery is.

Among these reveals that the new silicon-carbon has 240% more capacity when left at 3.5V compared to the standard battery. This, as they claim, is a 12.8% improvement.

According to GSMArena, the Magic5 Pro is listed in China with a 5450mAh battery, in comparison, the global variant has a 5100mAh battery. This could hint that the new silicon-carbon battery is in use. However, we’ll have to wait and see if this is exactly the case.
