nubia has just unveiled the Red Magic 7 series comprised of the Red Magic 7 and Red Magic 7 Pro in China.

The two phones are built around 6.8-inch AMOLED panels with a 10-bit color depth and full DCI-P3 coverage. They are both powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 cooled by ICE 8.0. The improved cooling system has a fan spinning at 20,000 RPM but this time around, it has a canyon air duct that connects to a second air inlet.

The airflow is said to offer a 35% improvement than the previous generation.

The Red Magic 7 series phones also have a custom Red Core 1 chip dedicated to handling some gaming-related tasks. This includes lowering the response rate of the 500Hz shoulder triggers to 7.4ms.

Despite sharing the same display, the vanilla Red Magic 7 offers a touch sampling rate of 720Hz and a 165Hz refresh rate. In addition, it has a peak brightness of 600 nits.

The vanilla variant houses its 8MP selfie camera in the top bezel. Meanwhile, around the back are a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 comes with 8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage. It is equipped with a 4500mAh battery with support for 165W fast charging.

The display of the Pro variant, on the other hand, has a touch sampling rate of 960Hz and a lower refresh rate of 120Hz. Its peak brightness though is higher at 700 nits.

Red Magic 7 Pro front - launch

Unique to the Pro variant is a 16MP under-display camera, the first in a gaming smartphone. The under-display camera uses a tripod pixel arrangement and wave-shaped wiring to keep the transparency as high as possible. Meanwhile, the rear camera is the same as its vanilla sibling.

As far as memory configuration goes, it has 12/18GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/1TB storage. It has a larger 5000mAh battery with the same 165W fast charging support.
