Insider Mark Gurman, Editor at Bloomberg, shared his thoughts on what to expect from Apple this 2022. During his podcast Power On, he speculates that Apple might remove the notch on some of the iPhone 14 models, redesign the MacBook Air, and release the M2 chip.

The removal of the notch on some of the iPhone 14 models further corroborates previous reports that mention the introduction of a punch-hole front camera design. The redesign could mean that the FaceID system will be moved to an under-display system.

Gurman also reported that this year the redesigned MacBook Air with an M2 chip and wireless charging for the 2022 iPad Pro might be revealed.

He further claims that the M2 may be “marginally faster” than the current M1 chip. The new chip is speculated to have an octa-core CPU and a 9/10-core GPU which is an improvement on the current chip’s 8-core GPU on the current MacBook Air.

Lastly, it is expected that Apple will develop new chips for the next Mac Pro and an AR/VR headset, which might appear during the WWDC this summer. Additional expected products this year include the new iPhone SE with 5G and a new version of the Apple watch.
