Microsoft Announces Annual Major Update Release for Windows 10

With Windows 11 fully released, you may wonder what will happen to Windows 10. Well, Microsoft has announced in a blog post that it will continue to support the older OS but it will now only get annual major updates.

The transition to the new once-a-year update schedule will start after the upcoming November 2021 update, meaning the next update will arrive in the second half of 2022. This is made to be in line with Windows 11.

According to the company, Windows 10 will still get support until October 14, 2025, so we can expect three more major updates. Additionally, small bug and security fixes are still expected to arrive along the way.

Meanwhile, if you want to check out the November 2021 update, you can check by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates.

Microsoft clarifies that Devices running Windows 10 version 2004 or later will have a faster overall experience with the November 2021 update. This, according to the company, is because it will install the update like a monthly update. Read more here.
