Remember the NEX? the phone with a pop-up front camera and in-display fingerprint scanner? Well, Vivo isn’t stopping there, as they’ve just announced a new version of the phone with not one but two displays. Coupled with a triple camera setup, the NEX Dual Display edition may be a glimpse of what’s yet to come for smartphones.

The NEX’s 6.39-inch Super AMOLED FullView display yields a screen-to-body ratio of 91.63%, a notable upgrade over the previous version. Thanks to the notch-less display, users can enjoy a more immersive experience – whether its for viewing photos, playing games, watching videos, and more.

Now, there’s a 5.49-inch Super AMOLED display at the back, which can be used in a number of creative ways. Mirror Mode, allows users to see themselves in the rear display when being photographed or filmed – The Lunar Ring, located on the rear display also glows for your notifications, and can even pulse in sync with your music.

Then there’s Pose Director, which can show a photo or video on the rear display, which you can then imitate for your shot. Imagine the numerous possibilities that developers can unlock when taking advantage of the two displays. Of course, the device still has the company’s signature in-display fingerprint sensor.

The new NEX Dual Display Edition also aims to elevate the photography experience. Its triple camera system is composed of a 12MP Dual-Pixel Camera with 4-axis OIS, a night video camera, and a Time of Flight (TOF) 3D camera for AR-applications. Its 3D sensing capabilities not only allows for point-to-point distance measurement, but also supports 3D modeling of the user’s face, for improved beautification and facial recognition.

There’s also AI Scene Recognition, AI Portrait Framing, PDAF, AI Filter, 4K Video Recording, Slow Motion Video Recording, AI Face Beauty, AR Stickers, and more.

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor, along with a hefty 10GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It runs on Funtouch OS 4.5 on top of Android 9.0 Pie. It packs a 3,500mAh battery and is capable of fast-charging.

“As Vivo’s premium line-up, the NEX series offers not only an extraordinary user experience to consumers, it also unleashes our imagination towards the future of design and development of smartphones. Combining a futuristic dual-display design and innovative technologies, NEX Dual Display Edition demonstrates Vivo’s continuous exploration and pursuit of exceptional innovations for consumers.”
