In an interview with CNET, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed the purported list of smartphones arriving in 2018 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 and the rumor of OnePlus 6’s launch this June.
“There’s no other choice,” Lau says, referring to the company’s decision to use the Snapdragon 845 for its newest phone. The OnePlus 6 is scheduled to launch late in the second quarter, which ends on June 30. He hadn’t confirmed the OnePlus 6’s name yet, but it’s pretty logical that it might end up being called that way.
Lau is also uncertain if OnePlus will launch a second version, like a 6T, in 2018. But given what they have done in the past two years, you could assume that there is a possibility.
Lau also shared that OnePlus is open to partnering up with US carriers for sales of its handsets. “If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we’ll be very happy to experiment,” Lau said, but declined to give any details as to when a deal might be happening.
