Last June 3, 2017, SplitMediaLabs in collaboration with PlayBook Esports and Team Spooky, celbrated the launch of Tekken 7 in the Philippines by hosting Rage Art at Playbook Makati, the country’s biggest tournament for the game to date.
With a prize pool of over PhP100,000 (thanks to XSplit, Player.Me, Challonge, Twitch, and donations from Team Spooky’s viewers on Twitch), the tournament garnered more than 160 players registered including big names like our very own “PBE. AK” Alexander Lavarez, as well as Korea’s Echo Fox JDCR and Echo Fox Saint.
The event was streamed live and was also well received, garnering a viewership of over 92,000 on Team Spooky’s channel, and over 362,000 on Rappler’s Facebook Page. In Twitter, Rage Art also attracted a lot of attention, getting over 55 million impressions worldwide.
Thanks to the sponsors, players and spectators were also treated to a raffle wherein the lucky winners got to go home with some awesome prizes such as shirts, NBA League Passes, Gift Certificates, Dobe Dualshock 4 charging docks, copies of Tekken 7, gaming headsets, video capture cards, L33T packs, and to top those off, a fight stick!
Of course, like all tournaments, only one can stand on top of the mountain and emerge victorious. In this case, Echo Fox JDCR claimed the title of champion with PBE.Doujin in second, PBE.AK in third, Echo Fox Saint on 4th, Coffee_Prinz and Prime tied for 5th, and finally IPT.EI and Noelittle tied for 7th.
