At the Launch of the G6 at this year’s Mobile World Congress, LG Electronics showcased an evolution of the mobile landscape, as it presented one of the most unique features of its newest flagship, the 18:9 screen to body ratio.

The G6 features a 5.7 QHD+ FullVision display, and for the first time in a smartphone, the screen ratio comes at 18:9, contrary to the conventional 16:9. This format offers more real estate for content and a more immersive experience both for movies and games.

“More to see, less to hold” is the goal of this device, easier to hold, while providing a larger screen. The G6 is also the first smartphone to feature Dolby Vision Technology. It also supports HDR 10, allowing for a wider range of color, luminosity, and detail. Amazon and Neflix are also creating content to take advantage of the G6’s 18:9 display

The G6 sports dual 13MP cameras (one with a 125° wide angle lens) and an expanded 100° field of view on the 5MP front-facing camera. It also features Square Camera Mode, which divides the 18:9 display into two sections for simultaneous capture and editing, as well as creative shots for Instagram.

Durability won’t be an issue with the G6, as it boasts water, dust, and overheating resistance. It also comes with Google Assistant, designed to work intuitively and seamlessly with LG’s own apps.

“There were a lot of expectations for LG’s newest flagship smartphone, succeeding our multi-awarded models from the G series. This year, on top of our further developed features, LG G6 is promoting next-level display with our 18:9 screen ratio. It’s a simple technology but it offers a whole new spectrum of capabilities—enhanced cinematic viewing, creative photos for social media, efficient multi-tasking—with its big screen that fits comfortably in one hand.” -Jay Won, LG Mobile Philippines VP
