Selfies, a way of instantly sharing a piece of your own world with others. And with it being the trend, it’s important for companies to adapt, and be able to integrate it into their businesses.

In particular, banking. Yes, you read that right. In fact, EON (Powered by UnionBank) has recently launched something they call “Selfie Banking”, using the EON Mobile App.

What it basically means is that instead of having to enter a password to login to your online banking account, you can now opt to just take a selfie using the app, after which, using its state-of-the-art facial recognition technology, it figures out if it’s really you, and if it is, it logs you in. Simple as that.

Passwords can be forgotten, and are easily compromised. Thus, there is a need for a more creative and innovative way to authenticate users, and “Selfie Banking” is just one of the steps that’s being taken by the bank to further enhance the security of your account.
