Here’s your first look at Cherry Mobile’s latest smartphone – the Cherry Mobile Flare Selfie. While the phone carries the Flare brand, it also carries with it a somewhat familiar brand known as Selfie. So, you can safely call this a product that marries the premium features of Flare and the camera prowess of the recently repriced Cherry Mobile Selfie.

What’s surprising about the new Flare Selfie is its fingerprint sensor that offers advanced 3D pixel sensing technology that reads virtually any fingers at different positions. I tested this during our unboxing session, and it just worked flawlessly. Unlocking the device takes .3 seconds

Another striking feature of the phone is its build and structure. Its minimalist build matches its overall looks; plus the absence of capacitive buttons make it looks really sexy and professional at the same time. Its gold side bezels are made of aluminum, and its laser-punctured speaker grills found at the bottom just look amazing. Its volume rockers and sleep/wake buttons that match the color of the bezels are clicky but looks very elegant.

Under the hood, the Cherry Mobile Flare Selfie rocks. It’s powered by Mediatek 6753 with processor clocked at 1.3Ghz Octa Core. It is complemented by 3GB RAM and Mali T720 GPU, so if you’re in the market looking for a smartphone than can run your favorite mobile games, this could be the one you’re looking for. The Flare Selfie supports USB OTG storage, but it doesn’t have any Move to SD feature. This can probably be addressed via software patch, but that’s something that we need to verify from Cherry Mobile.

Its 5.0-inch IPS screen is no slouch as well. Its screen displays accurate colors – as expected on IPS displays; plus text and images look bright and sharp.

Let’s also not forget its 16mp front and rear facing cameras with autofocus. Its rear camera has dual LED flash and its sensor is backside illuminated. To carry on with Cherry Mobile’s Selfie-related features, the Flare Selfie’s front camera is complemented by single LED flash.

The device runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 with Cherry [custom] Launcher. It is pre-installed with uninstallable apps like Opera Mini, UCamera, Beauty Camera, Cherry Dun Club, Cherry Play, Dr.Booster, Kakaotalk, Privacy Guard and TouchPal.

The new Cherry Mobile Flare Selfie will be available this January 2016 for only PhP7999.
