Netflix has finally updated how it will prevent people from sharing their passwords. This comes after there were speculations of a charge for doing so.

“To ensure uninterrupted access to Netflix, connect to the Wi-Fi at your primary location, open the Netflix app or website, and watch something at least once every 31 days. This creates a trusted device so you can watch Netflix, even when you’re away from your primary location,” the company clarified.

Netflix Sharing Password ‘Solution’

If you’re traveling or live between different homes, as long as you’re the primary account owner, you don’t need to verify your device. However, if you’re away for an extended period of time, you may need to verify your device by requesting a “temporary access code to continue watching.”

Regarding sign-ins from a device that’s not associated with your household or outside of your household, the company will send a link to your email address or phone number. This will give you a 4-digit verification code that needs to be entered on the device within 15 minutes.

As long as the device shares the internet connection of the primary account owner’s household, the verification won’t be necessary.
