Apple Introduces New M2 Chip at WWDC 2022

Apple has just unveiled the M2 chipset alongside the first devices powered by the new chip, the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro at WWDC 2022.

The new M2 chip is built on a second-generation 5nm process with 20 billion transistors, 25% more than the M1. This improves features on the new chipset including 100GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and up to 24GB of RAM.

It is said to offer 18% faster CPU performance than the M1. This is thanks to four faster performance cores with a larger cache and four enhanced efficiency cores.

The next-generation GPU can go up to 10 cores, two more than the M1. The 10-core GPU delivers up to 25% better performance than the M1 and up to 35% better performance at max power.

Meanwhile, the Neural Engine is capable of processing up to 15.8 trillion operations per second. This is 40% more than its predecessor.
