AMD together with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 racing team showed how the AMD EPYC processors improved aerodynamics testing capacity.
This increase in capacity contributed to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team by helping them win their 8th Constructors’ Championship during the 2021 racing season.
In addition, the team achieved a 20% performance improvement for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) workloads that were used to demonstrate and test the aerodynamic flow of their F1 car with AMD’s EPYC processors.

To run the analyses and benchmarks of aerodynamic tests, which are some of the most complex technical workloads among F1 teams, require advanced processors and servers.

Incredibly, we gained a 20 percent performance improvement over our previous system which has cut our CFD workload time in half.
