Introduction

Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 5200Mhz Review - Kingston Fury DDR5 Review

HP’s acquisition of Kingston’s gaming division, HyperX, for $425 Million is still fresh for most of us gamers as there are not much products to release in both the PC component and peripheral market for these brands to be truly separate. Kingston has been releasing products that used the be in the HyperX gaming line with the new Kingston FURY branding starting with the Kingston FURY Renegade RGB DDR4 Memory that we reviewed a few months back. Since then, we have continued to see the FURY brand grow as it houses more performance memory and storage solutions for PC enthusiasts, gamers, and content creators. The latest addition to the FURY lineup is an all-new model under the DDR5 banner following Intel’s release with the 12th-generation Alderlake processors. The Kingston Fury Beast 32GB(2x16GB) DDR5 5,200MHz makes its way to our labs for testing alongside the Intel Core i9 12900K and ROG Strix Z690-E motherboard.

Like the DDR4 variants, the Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 is a tier down from the Kingston FURY Renegade line which we have yet to see. The Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 should come with RGB options but the kit that we have is a plain black variant with no lighting whatsoever. As of writing, Kingston has only released the FURY Beast DDR5 in memory configurations of either a single 16GB stick or a 32GB kit containing 2pcs of 16GB sticks. Frequencies on the Fury Beast DDR5 are limited to the base 4800MHz, 5200MHz, or 6000MHz with either CL38 or CL40 latency. Our specific kit for the review is the Kingston FURY Beast 32GB(2x16GB) 5200MHZ CL40 kit.

A Closer Look

Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 5200Mhz Review 064

The Kingston FURY Beast comes in your typical-budget memory packaging with only a transparent solid plastic mold. The specific kit configuration can be found on the lower part of the sticker wrap which also seals the packaging.

Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 5200Mhz Review 047Like most memory modules whether DDR4 or DDR5, there are no other items that come alongside the memory kit aside from the typical brand logo sticker and the warranty & installation guide paper.

Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 5200Mhz Review 033The Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 has an updated design over the HyperX Fury Beast DDR4 memory with a much slimmer profile measuring at only 133.35mm x 34.9mm x 6.62mm.

Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 5200Mhz Review 006While it has no RGB lighting, the plain black theme and white font make the Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 suitable for any builds thanks to its neutral look. The heat spreader is not as thick compared to most high-end memory modules but it’s not definitely a deal-breaker as the Fury Beast DDR5 is a launch model for the latest DDR5 memory.

Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 Temperatures

Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 5200Mhz Review - Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 TempsThe low-profile heat spreader on the Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 takes the kit at a higher 61°C temperature which is only 4°C less than the higher speed TFroce Delta RGB DDR5 6400Mhz albeit the latter has a much larger heat spreader. The 61°C temperature is not something you should worry about as it is well within the 0°C to 85°C operating range though you might want to look out if you’re planning to use all four DIMM slots of your motherboard.

CONCLUSION

Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 5200Mhz Review - Kingston Fury DDR5 Review PH PriceThe Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 32GB(2x16GB) 5200MHz kit, despite its simple and cheap look, is a memory kit that provides excellent performance and stability considering we were using pre-launch motherboard BIOS and a first batch Intel retail processor which like most launches, usually has some quirks when it comes to memory. XMP profile worked straight out of the box across all three Z690 DDR5 motherboards that we have reviewed so far including the Intel Core i7 12700K which we have been testing for an upcoming review. Going back to the Fury Beast DDR5, this is the only memory kit or family that is available in the market(as of writing) since the launch of the Intel 12th Gen platform featuring DDR5 memory. Its price of Php 17,995 sets it at a Php 1,000 premium over the vanilla DDR5-4800 models in the market and is currently the cheapest 5,200MHz kit available(again, as of writing). That said, the Php 1,000 premium over the base 4800MHz DDR5 memory is something I’d be more than willing to pay for the performance uplift that it offers as seen in our benchmarks. Sure you have RGB like the one found on the TForce Delta DDR5, but the premium in paying for the 6,400MHz speed and RGB lighting is not worth it when you have a high performance, low profile memory kit like the Kingston Fury Beast DDR5. All in all, if you’re an early adopter of the Z690 platform and DDR5, the Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 32GB(2x16GB) 5200MHz kit is more than enough to reap the benefits of the new platform and will last you for a longer period until the DDR5 memory becomes more mainstream. There’s not much overtime value to be lost with the Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 despite it being one of the first batch AKA launch models of the DDR5 JEDEC standard. That said, we opted to use the Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 32GB 5200Mhz kit as our test bench memory of choice for our future Intel 12th gen CPU and Z690 motherboard reviews.
