MacBook Air with M1 SoC Scores Over 1 Million in AnTuTu v8

The new MacBook Air, powered by Apple silicone M1 chipset, has just scored over 1 million points on the AnTuTu v8 benchmark.

macbook-air-antutu-benchmark-resultsThe test was done with the iOS app introduced with the macOS Big Sur update which is able to run iOS apps with the new chipset. The MacBook Air pretended to be an iPad Pro with iOS 14.2 for the test.

macbook-air-antutu-benchmark-ipad-proOverall, the new notebook scored higher than the iPad Pro and its A12Z chipset. The CPU scored 50% higher while the GPU clocked 45% higher. The A12Z chipset was the best performing chipset from Apple despite being on a 7nm process, well that was before the M1 was unveiled.

macbook-air-antutu-benchmark-comparedThe Apple A14 chip on the iPhone 12 series lags behind the two other chips due to its configuration for smaller devices and bodies. It does, however, share the same 5nm process and the same architecture as the M1.

That said, the A14 chip has a 2+4 CPU configuration, compared to the 4+4 on the M1. The A14 GPU also has half the cores of the M1. This makes the MacBook chipset 78% faster in the CPU department and 2.5x faster in GPU performance.
