The ASUS ZenFone 6 features one of the most unique take on the motorized camera module – It flips. And thanks to more gears, it can also be set to whatever angle you want for capturing that moment.

Zenfone 6 3Of course, any motorized mechanism raises the issue of duarbility, especially when it’s a part that will be used more often than the others. Recently, Zack from JerryRigEverything went on to put the ZenFone 6’s camera to the ultimate durability test, to see if it can hold out.

The test reveals that the housing of the camera, and also the area where it retracts are both made of metal. He also forced the camera to open without the camera app, held the camera to see if the phone would flip instead, and checked if the mechanism was strong enough to pull items such as a screwdriver, or an instruction booklet. He even tried to twist the camera module to see if it would come off, and it didn’t.

Surprisingly, even after all the tests, ZenFone 6’s camera still flips like nothing happened. That basically means the folks at ASUS have done a good job (so far) in keeping the camera module as sturdy as possible.

At Computex 2019, our EIC, Gian, was able to interview with Mr. Eric Chen, Corporate Vice President of ASUS, who confirmed that the ZenFone 6 is coming to the Philippines. As to when, we don’t know yet. But still, that’s good news, right?
