The Asus Memo Pad HD 7  runs on Android 4.2, Jelly Bean. Most geeks know that this version of Android has a lot of improvement in terms of speed and performance. New software features also include Photo Sphere, a completely redesigned camera app, new Gesture Typing keyboard, Google Now with all new cards, and much more. Everything in Jelly Bean feels fast, fluid, and smooth. Moving between home screens and switching between apps is effortless, like turning the pages of a book.

The Memo Pad HD 7’s impressive hardware feature made all of these software features and fluidity in terms of performance very much possible.

Performance

The ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor ARM Cortex A7 CPU. Consumers should not be discouraged by this less well-known component, because in our tests, ASUS’s tablet provided impressive performance.

When we played Real Racing 3, animations were very smooth and it rendered sharp images. Special effects like smoke, skid marks, glares and motion blur are not absent during our tests. I also tried playing other games like Minion Rush, Asphalt 7 & Dead Trigger Need for Speed: Most Wanted and more. All mentioned games worked well, but I experienced occasional stuttering. I also noticed that the device isn’t heating up too much, except when I was charging.

When I ran AnTuTu Benchmark, a test that measures graphics prowess, the ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 scored an unremarkable 13,144.

The 7-inch screen is an IPS LCD screen. This is responsible for producing vivid and clear media content that your eyes can feast on. It’s perfect for readers, gamers and even for movie buffs like me.

Camera

At the back of the device is a 5-megapixel camera. Asus Memo Pad HD 7’s takes great pictures if subjects are well lighted. Unfortunately for subjects that are not on well-lit environments, photo output will produce too much noise. The absence of flash is also kind of a letdown. Battery

Asus Memo Pad HD 7 can squeeze around 10 hours of battery life (involving constant video playback) from the slate.

Unless you really tax it with constant video streaming at full brightness, you will only be able to use it at less than 6 hours.

As always, if you want to get the best battery life possible when you’re away from a plug for a while, keep the screen brightness turned to a minimum, use the Asus power-saving tool to limit certain functions and avoid streaming over Wi-Fi until you’re within dashing distance of a socket.
