I immediately downloaded the app on my iPad and tested it right away. I also used my PC to access Nokia Here using Google Chrome. The experience is just seamless, somewhat perfect. Thankfully, both the app and browser versions are running on HTML, so expect it to be really fast and very responsive with good connection.

Nokia Here also allowed me to login using my existing Nokia and Facebook accounts so I can share my activities on the web.

One of the unique things about Nokia Here is Collections. It allows you to ‘Collect’ your favorite locations. It’s saved to your account so you can always check it out anytime you want. I really hope that Nokia would soon gamify it to spice things up and makes it even more exciting to use.

Unfortunately, Maps Creator isn’t available yet on the browser version but that’s something to look forward to in the days to come. Currently, I highly doubt if they can surpass Google’s mapping community. If the app and the browser version click, I’m very optimistic that Here might stand as one of the best free map apps for iOS.

Apparently, the app isn’t available for Android devices yet. But upon checking Amazon, it seems like it’s available through Amazon AppStore, thus Kindle Fire users from the US and other supported countries may be able to download the app.

Rooted Cherry Mobile Titan with Modified dpi

In his guide, he stressed that it’s always best to create a Nandroid backup after rooting the device. This acts as its insurance in case you mess up your phone while modding the software. Check out the full process below:

1. Get your phone rooted(rom toolbox needs this). FYI there are more benefits in rooting your phone apart from “inztallingz kuztom romzz”, ask google he’s our friend.

2. I recommend, no I DEMAND YOU install CWM to create a backup just in case you mess up! YES, if YOU MESS UP AND BRICK YOUR PHONE OR FALL INTO A CLIFF, I OR ANYONE ELSE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OUTCOME.

3. Install Rom Toolbox, lite version will do as we just need to edit the build.prop. (actually if you’re knowledgeable to edit it yourself, you don’t need this app).

4. In rom toolbox select buildprop editor and add this line “ro.sf.lcd_density” and set the value to 200 or 180. (there’s a usb bug in 180, but just love it)

5. Reboot and enjoy!

As for Google Play, Allen suggested to download the modified APK from this link (with filename: 3.9.16.noupdate.norestrictions.dpi240.nosig-aligned.apk). Rename it to “Play.apk” via root explorer go to system/app then overwrite Play.apk.

Also, in changing your DPI, he advised, “180dpi is better than 200dpi however there is a bug when connecting your phone(file transfer) the system ui will crash and you won’t be able to connect. just change to 200dpi and transfer you files then go back to 180dpi when your done.”

4th Gen iPad. Unsurprisingly, Apple also announced the 4th Generation iPad, which phases out the current iPad model. If you are thinking of replacing your 3rd Gen New iPad with the 4th Gen New iPad, the you might want to reconsider your thoughts? If speed and new connector don’t matter to you, then stay away from it. Look at the iPad Mini instead.

I don’t want to be quite cerebral here. Making lots of moolah is now more important for Apple. Being one of the most valued companies in the US, the timing of the announcement and release of their devices – mostly iterations – are hooked up to the projected stock price of Apple before the year ends, which should be about more than $700/share.

1. Significant increase when the New iPad was announced in February.

2. Slight increase when the iPhone 5 was announced in September

3. Stocks are expected to rise very significantly before December brought about by combined sales of all devices during Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas Season.

With all these new devices that Apple announced, I don’t see any shadow of doubt that Apple will emerge as the ultimate winner. We very well know that Apple charges higher premium when it comes to pricing their devices compared to Android devices. That’s a given. But at the end of the day, we all have to be mindful of the things we purchase. Do you really need it? If you’re buying because you just want it, then by all means, signify your interest to buy an Apple Stock because that would totally be a win-win situation.

The iOS6 was officially announced yesterday at the WWDC in Cupertino. According to Scott Forstall, Apple’s senior vice-president of iOS Software, iOS 6 has over 200 new features.

Notable updates and changes on iOS6 are the following:

1. Siri is now more intelligent. Apart from being able to open applications, Siri can now find restaurants in partnership with Yelp and answer more complicated questions like “Who has better reach: Pacquiao or Bradley?”. Of course, the most celebrated news about Siri is about its availability on the new iPad. Unfortunately, Siri will not be made available for pre-iPhone 4s devices.

2. One of most widely talked about new feature of iOS is its near-system-wide integration of Facebook. With this new feature, any device on iOS6 can now do wall posts and post photos without using Facebook App.

Unfortunately, posting videos to Facebook is not yet implemented on the build I installed on my iPhone 4. Here are the sharing options for videos:

Part of the near-system-wide integration of Facebook is the ability of users to “like” apps or songs and “share” apps or songs to your Facebook wall.

3. iOS 6′s Do Not Disturb feature is one feature that I always wanted to have. With this feature, you can set the time when well… you don’t want to be disturbed. You can also exempt people from this feature; and a feature called “Repeated Calls” that when enabled, a second call from the same person within three minutes will not be silenced.

By the way, that moon icon you’re seeing on the status bar is the icon associated with Do Not Disturb.

4. A new app called Passbook was also announced. Passbook can hold “stuff” in your pocket like Boarding Passes, Tickets, Store Cards and Coupons.

5. Consistent with the rumors we heard and read in the past weeks, iOS6 will finally ditch Google Maps and embrace something that Apple owns. Apple’s new Maps application has traffic integration, turn-by-turn navigation (Data is from TomTom navigation), Yelp integration and 3D view.

This is just the start of the many changes we will see on iOS 6. Besides, this is just Beta 1 and we may have 5-6 more Beta versions until Apple launches the GM build in September. It is a good start, I believe, although I was hoping for features like Android-esque toggles on the notification bar, Siri for iPhone 4 and iPad 2 and Keyboard enhancement. Who knows, we might see these features as we come closer to September.
