Our fellow bloggers and press people officially hated us when we won the grand prize last Tuesday in Intercontinental Hotel at Samsung’s Notebook Launch. The grand prize – the Samsung NP-R440. Owning this during the night of the launch makes Gadget Pilipinas the first ever owner of a Samsung laptop in the Philippines. We nailed it, bigtime. We hurriedly went back to our base after a dose of San Mig light and unboxed our prize with too much enthusiasm.

Last January, Steve Jobs announced the Apple Ipad and its availability in April. As expected, those who watched his keynote had the usual Apple-Made-Me Smile-Again experience. (Here’s a link to my blog last January in case you haven’t read it yet.) April 3 came, and indeed, 500,000 bought it immediately, making it one of Apple’s bestselling devices in History. Several weeks later, I had the chance to have one and I’m writting this blog to share my almost-Nirvana experience while getting it out of its box.

The existence of netbooks was threatened by the recent release of the Apple iPad and the JooJoo. Obviously, the latter two tablets are definitely irresistible with their eye-candy looks and impressive UI (user-interface). But will tablet PCs, like the iPad and JooJoo really put an end to the fate of netbooks such as the Nokia Booklet 3G?
