Apple Announces iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: Faster Processor, Water Resistance, Dual Cameras and a Ton of Improvements

After a long wait, the iPhone 7 has arrived. And with it comes a tidal wave of new features and improvements.  We’ve listed the most notable ones for you. Let’s take a look:

Design

The iPhone 7 and 7 plus keeps their 4.7 and 5.5 inch screen sizes. The improvement however lies in all new Retina HD display, which Apple claims is 30% brighter. 3D Touch integration with iOS has also been enhanced for better user experience. Another notable change is the Home button, which is now static. It can’t be pressed or clicked, you’ll only need to tap it. It does however, have something they call “taptic feedback” which means apps can now give you different levels of feedback. A second speaker has also been added (One at the top, and one at the bottom)

Oh and, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus are now splash, water, and dust resistant.

Internals and Battery Life

The iPhone 7 is powered by the new A10 Fusion chip, which is claimed to be 40% faster than its predecessor. It uses 2 High Performance Cores and 2 High Efficiency Cores which can run at just a fraction of the power needed. All in all, this translates to better performance with improved battery life, which Apple claims is about 2 hours more on the 7 and 1 hour more on the 7 plus.

Camera

The 12MP camera on the iPhone 7 has now been equipped with Optical Image Stabilization, a Larger f/1.8 aperture, and a Quad-LED True
Tone flash, which Apple claims is 50% brighter than the one in the 6s. The iPhone 7 plus has also another ace up its sleeve. Dual Cameras. It has a second Telephoto lens with f/2.8 aperture. All this means is that you’ll be able to zoom in from a farther distance and still get high quality shots. There’s also a new 7MP front facing camer which has auto-image stabilization.

Pricing

Local pricing is yet to be announced, but the 32GB model of the iPhone 7 is priced in the US at $649 which is roughly PhP30,000 (without taxes, etc.) while the 32 GB model f the iPhone 7 plus comes at a hundred dollars more (around PhP36,000)

The iPhone 7 and 7 plus will come in 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB capacities, and in colors of jet black (128GB and 256GB models only) , matte black, gold, silver, and rose gold.
