It’s only been a couple of months since Huawei unveiled their latest flagship smartphone, the Mate 8, at CES 2016 back in January but it looks like the company is eager to get their new device into the hands of consumers around the world as the company has just officially launched the new flagship here in the Philippines.

Huawei Mate 8 Launch 1

The Mate 8 features the company’s latest Kirin 950 octa-core processor which the company claims is twice as powerful as its predecessor. It also runs on the latest version of Huawei’s homegrown operating system, EMUI 4.0, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The display on the Mate 8 is a 6-inch full HD 1080p IPS display which is surrounded by very thin bezels making the new flagship quite slim and easy to hold in spite of its large screen size and full metal body. The rest of its internals include 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a 4000mAh battery that supports Rapid Charging, and 4G LTE connectivity.

Speaking of connectivity, the Mate 8 is equipped with a SIM card tray that supports a nano SIM card and either a second nano SIM card for dual 4G LTE connectivity or a microSD card up to 128GB for more storage. It’s also equipped with a 16-megapixel f/2.0 aperture camera that’s backed by a Sony IMX298 BSI CMOS sensor, Optical Image Stabilization, and dual-tone LED flash, as well as an 8-megapixel f/2.4 aperture shooter on the front of the device for selfies. Lastly, the Mate 8 comes with Huawei’s signature rear-mounter fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei Mate 8 will be available in four color options – Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, Champagne Gold, and Mocha Brown – and at a price of P32,990. It will be available at Huawei partner retailers starting March 5 but those who wish to already pre-order the device may do so and will get a free pair of Harman Kardon headphones for it.

Additionally, Huawei also launched two new devices alongside the Mate 8 – the GR5 mid-range smartphone and the MediaPad M2 8.0 tablet. The GR5 will be priced at around P11,990 while the MediaPad M2 8.0 will have a price tag of P14,990. Both will be available starting March 15.
